*Graffiti Bistro & Bakery

Tonight I'm having dinner with 2 NYU gals and a boyfriend at P*Ong. Before we get to that review later tonight, I'm reminded of another pastry chef that does fabulously innovative things, small plates and really neat pairings (and also worked for Jean Georges).
I heard about Graffiti from a Wellesley pal, J. She raved about it and I thought it would be a great place to take M to. Chef Jehangir Mehta has created masterpieces at Jean Georges and Aix and now has a little shoebox to call his own. It literally fits like 12 people. "Eclectic, international small plates feature his trademark affinity for bold flavors and spices: chiles, sambhar, tumeric and star anise." M and I sat next to each other in a cute little alcove, very romantic. She really liked her Prosecco Lychee Martini - like a lychee slushee with happy juice! We enjoyed the chili pork dumplings with grapefruit confit and foie gras rasberry crostini over walnut salad (foie gras that she actually liked!). The fun part of this was going to the bathroom (so tiny with sink over the toilet!). You actually go through the minuscule ally kitchen and wow, there's the chef and the sous chef cooking at a 4 foot long counter and 2 hot plates. That's it.
