Women Attacked in Leonia

This occurred a few blocks from my home.

The Leonia Police Department is reporting an attempted sexual assault that occurred at approximately 7:00am Tuesday, 4/14/09. The assault took place on Glenwood Avenue near Crescent Avenue. The Korean female victim was grabbed from behind and forced to the ground. As she attempted to fight the suspect, a pedestrian interrupted the attack and scared off the suspect. The suspect was last seen running towards Fort Lee Road. The suspect was described as a light skinned black male, 5’9”, thin build, wearing all black clothing and a black wool hat. He may have had a thin mustache. The Leonia Police Department is working with other law enforcement agencies to determine if this attack is similar to reported attacks in Englewood and other jurisdictions.
