*Deborah with J & M

I can't believe I had not seen my Wellesley women since July! We had a lot of catching up to do. Firstly, hugs to J, E and C who couldn't join us. E, let's see some pictures of your little girls! J, rest up! C thought she could have a nice, relaxing, non-political vacation on an Alaskan cruise with her family. Who knew that politics follows this woman everywhere she goes and she was vacationing in the Republican Party's Vice-President's 'hood.

M started a new job as field producer for a daily international news show called Worldfocus. In a feverish race to develop content, she and her team travelled and filmed in Egypt and Brazil. Gorgeous vistas, fascinating characters, culture up close and a stint at a police station. Not bad. J regaled us with tales from the DNC - great work, progress, speeches and an awesome concert at Red Rocks. I've got to get myself to Denver. True Wellesley style, she also shared with us her 10 year plan. Of course, we discussed politics and I just love hearing everything they have to say. And, to start a new tradition, we called our friend N out in Portland on speakerphone to catch up.

The food? My Stern foodie friend C recommended Deborah and it was great. The location was perfect - 2 blocks away from West 4th where I could take an ACE. Modern and comfortable design - we got a great seat at the front open window. The service was so friendly, relaxed and sweet. Deborah Staton formerly of Galaxy teamed up with David Oh of Woo Lae Oak to create great "Modern American, comfort food that will emphasize fresh, quality food from local farmers and businesses." We shared crispy calamari that had a light aromatic dusting of cumin and other spices. I got really excited about watercress salad had the Grilled Thai Tiger Shrimp and Avocado Salad. Beautiful, delicious, slight warm nutty flavor from some sesame oil and who can say no to guacamole?
