*Sugiyama

I like to walk with S to Hell's Kitchen after we have dinner (she lives there and it's close to Port Authority). We strolled down 55th Street and I saw the East and stopped. OMG, there's this place! And then I saw it, Sugiyama.

My Wellesley big sister L once took me for dinner there. It appeared to be a regular Japanese restaurant. I was so wrong. L ordered the 6 course chef's choice for the both of us and I was so blown away. Everything was so fresh, gorgeous, inventive and unbelievably delicious. I particularly remember eating a little crab the size of a quarter and grilling shrimp marinated in sake over hot lava rocks. Amazing.
